Privacy Policy
Effective: 18 October 2026
Who this applies to
JosephOS is a private system used only by its owner. It is not offered to anyone else.
Google Calendar
The owner is preparing a connection between JosephOS and his Google Calendar, through a program that runs on his own computer. It is not yet in regular use. A connection exists only after the owner authorises it on Google's consent screen, which shows the exact access requested. The connection is intended to request only:
- access to view and edit events on calendars the owner owns;
- access to view the list of the owner's calendars;
- access to view free/busy information.
It is intended to use this access only to show the owner his schedule and, with his approval of each change, to create or update events. These limits are part of the connection's planned design; they will be checked when the connection is completed and tested.
Information about other people
Calendar events can include other people's names, email addresses and other details added by an event's organiser or participants. When JosephOS reads the owner's calendar, it may handle those details. The connection is being designed to read only the event details it needs, such as an event's time and title, and to use them only for the owner's own scheduling; this has not yet been verified in a completed connection.
How information is handled
- Information is used only to provide these features to the owner. It is not sold and is not used for advertising.
- The owner operates JosephOS with the help of an AI assistant (currently Anthropic's Claude). Information the owner asks the assistant to work with, including calendar information, is sent to Anthropic for processing. Records of those conversations may be kept on the owner's computer and may also be kept by Anthropic. Anthropic handles and retains information under its own terms; this policy makes no commitment on Anthropic's behalf.
- Information the owner chooses to record in his private JosephOS records is stored on his own devices, kept in sync between them through Obsidian Sync, and backed up in a private GitHub repository. Those services hold that information under their own terms.
- The services currently involved in handling this information are those named in this policy: Google, Anthropic, Obsidian and GitHub, and Cloudflare for this website. The owner does not sell this information or give it to others for their own use. If the services involved change, this policy will be updated.
- Access credentials for connected services are kept in the secure credential store of the owner's computer and are never published.
Revoking access
The owner can remove JosephOS's access to Google Calendar at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/connections
